The Rebbe was born Satmar, Romania in 1898. After serving in a number of smaller cities throughout Romania, the Rebbe was appointed the Rav of Krula. In 1951, after emerging from the ashes of the Holocaust, he moved to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Bnei Brak. In 1958, at behest of Rebbe Yoel Teitelbaum the Satmar Rebbe, he relocated to the Boro Park section of Brooklyn. After a short adjustment period the Rebbe established his chassidic court. The Rebbe was known as an outstanding talmid chacham and was well respected by the Rabbonim of his generation.
