Rabbi David Stavsky Zt”i passed away about 6-7 years ago and is burried in columbus ohio.

His succesor today is (my freind) Rabbi Naftali Hertzka Weisz which is b”h very successful.

Notes on Ohio:
Rabbi Gruenwald was, of course, the author of the Kol Bo al Aveilus. He also authored numerous other books and articles during his life-time. He attracted large crowds to his Friday night lectures. It is said that when he learned that one member of the audience had driven to shul to hear him speak, he cancelled the rest of that season’s speeches.
His successor at the Beth Jacob (Beis Yeinkev) in Columbus was Rabbi David Stavsky zt’l, who served the shul for 47 years. Rabbi Stavksy zt’l won the position by being the only candidate who could give a derasha in both Yiddish and English (such were the demands in the 1950s). He never compromised religious standards, but instead made classical Torah-observant Judaism attractive to a new and young generation. To wit, he cast the annual kinus teshuva of the aseres yemei teshuva as “Religious Emphasis Week,” and brought to Columbus rabbonim and roshei yeshiva to deliver thunderous smhoozim. By doing so he was not only makriv people to Torah, but exposed those would otherwise not have seen the faces and wisdom of leading rabbonim

Yes, his son Jack resides in Denver. He is an attorney. I don’t have a picture; however, in the back of one of his seforim (titled “Hashochet V’Hashechita-available at Hebrewbooks) there is a short biography of Rabbi Greenwald, which includes a picture.

Do you mean the Chuster Rav? If so, I know Rav Greenwald’s grandfather was the Chuster Rav (as related to me by Rav Greenwald’s son.) He was also a distant cousin of the Arugas Habosem.

Rabbi Greenwald was a prominent rav in Columbus, Ohio, from 1924-1955. He battled assimilation, and fought for the perpetuation of Orthodox, Halachic standards during those tough years. He wrote over 40 seforim, many of which are available on Hebrewbooks.org. Any student of Halacha probably can appreciate his contribution, most notably, to the laws of Aveilus (lo oleinu), with his sefer “Kol Bo al Aveilus.”
