R’ Chaim was born in Ujhely, he was a grandson of Ujhely Sefard Rav R’ Yosef Moshe Teitelbaum, and was descendant of the Yismach Moshe of Ujhely, and the Divre Chaim of Zanz.
His brothers: R’ Yosef Moshe (Marosujvar Rav), R’ Zvi Hirsh (Veitzen Dayan), R’ Eluzer (Ujhely Sefard Dayan), and R’ Yecheskel Shraga Meisels (Radvany Rav, buried in Ujhely).
R’ Chaim served as Rav from 1927 in Izbugya Radvany (Vysna Radvan, Slovakia), and from 1929-1930 in Szarvas, Hungary.
His son-in-law was the Kerestir Rav and Admor R’ Berish Rubin.
