how come he ended up in america, if he was from gateshead

Does anyone know where R. Nahcman Dovid Lankdinski (First Rosh Yeshiva of Gateshead, buried in Dean, NJ) lived in America? Growing up on the West Side of Manhattan there was a Rabbi Landinski who learned in Radin. I’m wondering it that was him.

If the West Side Rabbi Landinsky wasn’t R. Nachman Dovid then it might have been his brother Rav Mordechai who was a rosh yeshiva at the Radin yeshiva that was reopened in the USA. See תולדות אנשי שם here in the column on the right: http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=6562&st=&pgnum=82
The lower part of the page has an article on R. Mordechai. The top part is a continuation of an article on their father – Rav Moshe Landinsky who was Rosh Yeshiva at Radin in Europe for many years.
I found this gem in a footnote in the seforim blog
“a story I heard from the Rosh Yeshiva of the
Kaminetz yeshiva in Jerusalem, R. Yitzchak Sheiner, concerning a student who
aspired to join the Yeshiva in Radin. This student was disappointed to find out
that he failed his entrance examination with the Chafetz Chaim, and was told to
seek other arrangements. On his way out he chanced upon the Rosh Yeshiva of
Radin, R. Moshe Landinsky, who noticed his dejected look and asked what had
transpired. After hearing the story, R. Moshe advised him to return to the
Chafetz Chaim and ask to borrow money for the train fare from Radin to Lida.
Knowing of the Chafetz Chaim’s aversion to the modern yeshiva founded in Lida
by R. Yitzhak Yaakov Reines, this move was guaranteed to make the Chafetz Chaim
reconsider his rejection of this bachur. Sure enough, that is exactly
what happened, and the bachur was thereupon accepted to the Radin
yeshiva”
