I think that my father Daniel Kahanovitch sons of Yaakov Meir, was a relative of Israel Izhak Kahanovitch. My father born in 1908 probably in Volpe, raised in Volkovysk and died 1945 in Israel, I was one years old. Is somebody can help me rectify or deny?
After Rabbi Kahanovitch arrived in the USA in 1905 he served as Rav of Beis Midrash HaGadol (aka the Penn Avenue Shul) in Scranton, PA for a year. See news of his 1906 departure to Winnipeg in The Scranton Truth (p.3 December 26, 1906) at: https://www.newspapers.com/image/50058451/?terms=cahnwitz
He is mentioned there as Rabbi Cahnwitz.
I am a relative, great grandson of Rabbi Yisroel’s brother Harry Kahanowitz (Scranton, Pa). I would love to connect.
From my understanding when Rabbi left Scranton for Canada his two brothers Harry (my Great Grandfather) and His Brother David moved to Scranton.
