Hi Sheryl,
Was Rabbi Yosef Dov (JB) Hurwitz of St. Paul related to Rabbi Isaac from Hartford?
I saw on Geni that there were strictly religous nephews from Reb Yitzchok Simcha Hurewitz, particulary through huis brother Shmiel Mier , was he a rabbi as well?

From the brother’s kever it would seem he was also a Rabbi: http://kevarim.vohost.us/rabbi-shmuel-meir-horowitz/.

A nice photo of Rabbi Yitzchok Simcha Hurewitz:

Are you sure that is his picture? He does not look like the other Hurwitz’ in the family from this picture
I would like to upload a photo of his father’s kever on Har Hazeisim. How to do this?
We have a family tradition that the Hurwitz family from Novarodok are related to us, my Israeli family includes Abramowitz, and Katzin, who it seems were related Isaac’s cousin Shimon “Shoichet” in Petach Tikva. Also, my grandparents with my mother emmigrated to the usa during the 1920s they came to Hartford as their cousin Rabbi I.S. Hurwitz lived their.
If anyone knowledgeable as to this Hurwitz family please contact me directly at yonibenari@gmail.com (in Yerushalayim)-
I am researching my Hurwitz family whose name was ‘Shif’ from Kovno -Vilna. We have a mesora of being descendents from the Vilna Gaon. According to what I have seen (see Chaim Freedman – The Branches of Eliyahu) there is a possibility that my great great grandfather may have been a brother of the Alter Rv Josef Yoyzel Hurwitz. My suspicions are that he a maskil and not mentioned. The family of our went from Finland England and then the US. There were family in NY, Ohio, Boston, Florida, England. Given names are Abraham Yakov, Abraham Yosef, Yehoshua Hirsh Zev, Baruch, Gershon,

I am still trying to find exactly how my Abramowitz family of Novarodk and New Haven (second half of the 19th cent) are related to Rabbi Hurewitz. Our two families “know ” that we are cousins but I haven’t found anyone alive today who knows the exact connection.
Any new suggestions?
Does anybody know where I can find R’ Hurewitz’s response to prof. Louis Ginzburg about grape juice?
Thanks.
