Rav, Beth Hamedrash Anshei Sokol Belz

In 1892, Beth Hamedrash Anshei Sokol Belz was established on the Lower East Side by a group of followers of Rebbe Yehoshua Rokeach of Belz (d.1894). As a service to its members the founders purchases burial property at the Mount Judah Cemetery. Most of the people buried there have some connection with an Admor of Belz inscribed on their tombstone.

There is an article on his family in the most recent Or Hatzafon, the Belzer publication. I was named Shmarya after his brother who was also a shochet in Belz.

Guess he wasn’t the only Shochet.
