The Rebbe is correct, They are father and son.
Rebbe Alimielch Shimon Rimalt of Chirov that is mentioned as thier anccestor alongside his father Reb Zvi of Chirov, authored a sefer called “Dudaim” a Pirush on Shir Hashirim, his son was Rav Pinchas Rimalt of Zalkove, I do not know where the Laufers come together with the Rimalts.
