Is this the same Rabbi Yankel Cohen that was a Rav in Spring Valley?

No, that Rav Cohen was still alive in 1934.

Rabbi Jacob (Yaakov “Yankel”) Cohen z”l former Rav in Spring Valley, NY is buried in Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, NY near the kever of his father, Harav Leeber Cohen and by the ohel of the Chernobler Rebbe.

Is this Rav Cohen, Rav Leeber’s brother? Both have Binyamin listed as the father’s name.

Look what Rabbi Poisek writes (http://hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=23389&st=&pgnum=278 in the foot note) about Reb Liber’s family, what I understand from it is that they were not brothers.

I believe they that Rav Cohen is indeed Rav Leeber Cohen’s (or LIber) brother. I am a great-grandson, and I am pleased to see this photo and the comments. I will look for the grave this October.

HaRav Leeber Cohen was my great grandfather. His wife was Udel A’H. He had two sond Biyamin who never married and Rav Yankel Cohen who was the Rav in Spring Valley. There are two great grandsons who are both Dr. Leeber Cohen -one in New York and one in Chicago.
