According to the Social Security Death Index, he was born 25 January 1918 and was niftar 22 May 2003 in Wilmington, Delaware.
His father was Reb Chanoch Henich B”R Yonah, his wife was Sara Gittel daughter of Solomon Kirstein of the Bolch Publishing Co.

I recall seeing a listing in the Rabbinical Council of America membership directory for a Rabbi Yosef Aryeh Gewirtz. It may be his relative.

Rabbi Gewirtz himself was a musmach of Hebrew Theological College in Chicago (now known as Skokie Yeshiva).
