Any relation to Lev?
Lev Trotzky was not his real name.
Why would he be related to Lev Davidovich Bronshtein?
Leon Trotsky changed his name from Lev Davidovich Bronshtein when he was 23 years old. It appears that none of his relatives (ancestors nor descendants) changed their surnames along with him.
Wonder where Leon picked up the name Trotsky?
Trotsky was the name of one of his prison guards in Odessa. He used many pseudonyms. See http://www.trotskyana.net/Leon_Trotsky/Pseudonyms/trotsky_pseudonyms.html
I am a Trotzky from South Arica and believe that my grear grandfather came from Russia. How can I get hold of the prison guards family?
