Rabbi Schuster was originally from Germany where he served as a Rabbi, his father in law Rav Avraham Yehoshua Goldberg, the author of the sforim Mkor Habrachos on Meseches Brachos, and Kisvei Paz, was a talmid and relative of the Alter of Kelm, Rav Simcha Zissel (Ziv) Boride.
After going from Germany to Israel and then to the US he settled in Philadelphia whaere he served as the Rav of the Young Israel Congregation and authored the mentioned Mamarie Chazal.
