The Yeshiva he started was formally known as Akiba Hebrew Academy and for many years attracted kids that would have ended up in Public School offering a Torah education. It eventually merged to become SAR Academy in Riverdale. The S is for Salanter, the A is for Akiba Hebrew Academy and the R is for Riverdale Hebrew Academy.
