1. The caption of photo above seems mistaken,
(if the dp camp is after wwII) because rav shraga himself would have been white, certainly his father, they mean his son who was also named Shlomo.
2. There seems to be mistakes in the link above ( ivelt). Rav shraga may have already moved to America in 1915. He gave a hesped on Dr. Klein in 1917 in Chicago and he mentions on pg 261 in bigdei srad that he was in NY 2 years prior. It seems that he may have been born before 1863, if you calculate where he was during his lifetime.
If I am correct about all this, he was very old when he passed away.
I am his great great grandson he was born in 1871 and was niftar in 1958. Not sure about photo. My grandmother never mentioned a trip to DP camps.
My husband is a talmid of Rabbi Yaakov Rosenberg zatzal from machon Shlomo and Rabbi Yaakov Rosenberg was a young man after the war and he went to the DP camps with his father who was Rabbi Shlomo Rosenberg who built up the OU kashrus.
The photo on this page is incorrectly identified as Rav Shraga Rosenberg….the man in the military uniform is his SON Alexander “Sandor” Rosenberg and the fellow with the black beard is also a son, his youngest, Bela Vojtech Rosenberg. I have this info on full authority of the son of Bela Rosenberg.
Yes Rabbi Aleksander Shlomo Rosenberg. Machine Shlomo is named after him. This was Rabbi Yaakov Rosenbergs father. Rabbi Aleksander Shlomo Rosenberg is the one who went to the dp camps after wwIi. I was told he went with his son Rabbi Yaakov Rosenberg.
