Rabbi Yakov Avigdor was my paternal Grandfather. I, Rabbi David Avigdor was his first and oldest grandson. I knew him well and had the privilege of spending time with him in Mexico City. He was present at my Bar Mitzvah in West Hartford CT in 1967. I was privileged to travel back to his Great Synagogue in Drohobych in 2019 and stand on his Bima and Lead the Yom Kippur davening for the first service in 80 since he was incarcerated by the Nazis in 1939.
