“Sfard Cemetery” or “Nusach sefard cemetery”?
on Center street off Walnut st by route 48. I think Sfard cemetery. Is there a difference??
Do you have any other information on Rabbi Yaakov (Jacob) Friedman?? Pictures perhaps??
What is the definition of:
יקר במצלות
I guess this is an error, from:
יקר במצוות
which is poor Grammer for itself.
Yankie,
What do you know about your GG-Father? was he from a Rabbinic Backround? where did he immigrate from?
how about יקר במעלות ובמדות
Asher,
You are probably right on the Money
for GPS purposes the address of the cemetery is: 770 Center street.
Hello,
I am from Clairton but moved to Pgh when I was 8 years old in 1962. I remember the Synagogue-what was the name of it and is there a membership list of any time era? Thanks
Jan, did you know or hear of my GGF the rabbi of the shul in Clairton? If you live in the Pittsburgh area try to do some research …….
when I was the Rabbi of the tree of life, and Anshe Sfard congregations of, McKeesport, his son Milton was a member of our congregation. He was a lovely man, and read the Torah for us.
He told me that on Friday afternoons. His father would stand by the window of the home. Hopefully, looking for a guest for Shabbos. I believe he is only the family had a connection to theNodeh B’Yehuda.
Rabbi Lefkowitz,
Thank you for sharing your memories of our Great uncle Milton as well as the memories he shared with you about his father (Rabbi Yaakov Friedman). The family does have a connection to the Nodeh BiYehuda. The Friedman families pathway to the Nodeh BiYehuda is through R’ Yaakov’s paternal grandfather (R’ Meir Friedman) who married Perl Landau the great granddaughter of The Noda BiYehuda.
