I am so glad to find this . Rabbi Feinberg was my great grandfather and sadly I can’t add much to this despite my research – I am trying to learn where he was born
I believe Rav Israel Fineberg was from Lithuania, as was most of the congregation of the Clinton St. Shul. Check out the book “From Ararat to Suburbia”, which has a bit of background on him. From what I read he was very respected by his congregation.
I went to visit the gravesite (my great grandfather) and unfortunately, so many of the tombstones were knocked over. Including Israel Fineberg’s. I called a local funeral home and while he told me he could straighten it out, it wouldn’t be worth the money because it would just be knocked over again. 🙂 I do have pictures of what it looked like
