A document that seems to be the marriage document mentions witnesses Anna Schnaidman and Isaac Silver. Anna seems to be the wife of Isaac Schnaidman. So perhaps the wife of the Rabbi was the witness? On the document it also mentions an Israel Silver as a second witness. Maybe a fellow congregant? I would like to know more about which synagogue and to which movement this Rabbi Schnaidman belonged.
The Schnaidmans lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan near Madison St, Henry St, and East Broadway. After his passing the Rebbetzin ZL moved to daug hter’s home in Oak Park or Southfield MI.
I think he was the certifying rabbi for Maneshewitz matzauh im Jersey City. I think the Rebbetzin taughr at Esther Schoenfeld school for girls on the LES.
Their other son Rabbi Morrdechai Schnaidman was the Rauv at modern orthodox Mount Sinai JewishCenter,
135 Bennett Avenue cnr W 187 St in Washington Heights, Manhattan.
I always presumed that R’ Yitzchok learned in Eastern Europe, but I don’t know. By the same token, I don’t know if he identified with any particular 19th/20th century movement within orthodoxy.
Oh, the name of Rabbi Yyitzchok’s congregation is listed on this page:
Chevra Poel Tzedek Anshei Illia.
Some of their papers are in the Archive at the Mendel Gottesman Library at the Yeshiva University main campus.
