His original name was most probably Gitterman being a direct decsendant of the Savronner Rebbe, for some reason he adopted his mother’s maiden-name Hager.
I doubt he was known as the Savronner Rebbe, I now learned that the reason he took the name Hager was after his parents divorced and he grew up with his Grandfather the Zabeltover Rebbe Reb Dovid Hager
Recently There was a Savraner rebbe In Israel By the name of R’ Zundel Hager. In fact his son reprinted the Sefer of the Savraner Rav.
Reb Yehuda Zundel Hager was a nephew of Reb Yechiel Baruch, his father Reb Yitzchok Mier was another son of Reb Moshe Tzvi of Stanovitz-Savran

My wife is the Grand Daughter of Reb. Yechiel Baruch Hager (above). I have been working on the Hager Family Tree for over a year. If anyone has anything to add… I need specific info on where the family lived in Austria prior to coming to America…I would appreciate receiving it and in return would be happy to provide any info I have on the Hager Family…current & past.
