Shalom,
My name is Meyer Drapkin, I am 72 years old, living in Waldoboro, Maine. I grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey and my family were members of Congregation Ohab Shalom on Rutgers Avenue and Warner Avenue.
In the early 1960’s I attended the Hebrew School there and for a brief time we had a young rabbi named Rabbi Wagschal (sp?). I believe Rabbi Wagscal was a Holocaust survivor (although the term “Holocaust” was not in general usage then). He had a fine singing voice and tried to organize a few of us into a choir.
Do you have any information about the Rabbi. I did find some information about a Rabbi Shaul Wagschal norm in Vienna in 1923 who passed away in Brooklyn in 2012.
Thank you,
b’shalom,
Meyer Drapkin
