Rabbi Lehrman participated in the historic March on Washington in which over 400 mostly Orthodox rabbis marched through the streets of Washington on the day before Erev Yom Kippur of 1943, demanding that the Roosevelt administration help save the Jews of Europe.

His son was Irving Lehrman a Reform Rabbi of temple emanuel in Miami FL, he was 94 when he died in 2005.
