Biographical Notes:
« Previous: Rabbi Avroham Noach AvrutickNext: Rabbi Yaakov Isaac Yarvesky »
My name is Freya Lefkowitz.
My father. Milton Lefkowitz, who received numerous medals from his service overseas , is 103 years old. He often speaks about his Uncle Chiam, who was a rabbi. He had a congregation in Sullivan County and then came to Bklyn where he was the rabbi in a temple on Lewis Ave. My dad said his uncle’s temple( Romanian) , was two flights above where my fathers family lived. In those days, they called that neighborhood in Bklyn “ Williamsburg”. He has fond memories of his uncle, especially during the high holy days. The date of his death that is noted seems to fit. Uncle Chiam lost a daughter at an early age. Yetta, to leukemia.
I would love to know how I can find out any information regarding my uncle.
Thank you for all the important work you do. My father was so excited to see his Uncle’s name !
