Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shaprio had three surviving sons who lived in Amerca. My father , Joel Shapiro, a son of R’ Moshe Shmuel, had 3 sons and 1 daughter, who had many children and grandchildren, some of whom are presently learning in Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin and its Kollel. My grandfather came to America in 1923; he brought his family here in 1927 when he got the job as principal in Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin. He was prinicipal there until 1950 when he retired. He published Toldos R’ Chaim M’voloshin in 1909, the first sefer written about R’ chaim. The sefer has been re-published 4 times since then. After my grandfather passed away, my father published 2 of his seforim: Reb Moshe Shmuel V’ doro, a collection of articles about Gedolim and other topics and a collection of letters; Darchai Shmuel, a collection of Chidushim on Shas and Drush on the Torah; some copies of the later two Seforim are available. The Kever is in Beth David Cemetary, Elmont NY.

Thanks Emanuel, I was under the impression that he lost his entire family in WWI, apparently on his eldest son Simcha perished hy”d and the rest of the family was saved.
The sefer Reb Moshe Shmuel V’Doro is available online on Otzahr Hachocmo, I didnt see the Darchai Shmuel.
An unclair photo of Reb Moshe Schmuel is printed in the above mentioned Sefer, perhaps you can provide the Admin a clear photo to post in conjunction with this entry.
Thanks again
I am another of R’ Moshe Shmuel Shapiro’s grandsons, named after my uncle and great-grandfather who were both killed, along with their families, by the Nazis ืื”ืฉ. As my brother pointed out the rest of the family came to America in 1927 and was in the US during the war. The kever is in Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY; the exact loaction can be obtained from the office upon entry. A clear photograph of my grandfather appears in the sefer ืจ’ ืืฉื ืฉืืืื ืืืืจื. We will forward a copy to the Admin as soon as we can.

I am a translator of Yizkor Books, and am currently working on the Book of Volozhin. There is a biography with a photo of Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shapiro on page 230. See https://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/Volozhin/vol230.html The photo looks somewhat different than the one included on this kevarim webpage (and I note that the same photo from kevarim appears for a different Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Shapiro at the website: https://alchetron.com/Moshe-Shmuel-Shapiro — perhaps one or the other is for the wrong person.) In any case, the article in the Volozhin Yizkor Book is indeed for the Rabbi Shapiro of Yeshivat Chaim Berlin, as described on this page.
To Jerrold — You are correct. The photo of my grandfather in the article on R’ Moshe Shmuel Shapiro of Israel, is an error. I have contacted the administrator of the website and hopefully they will correct it.
Hi Seymour. I think I have a photo of your great-aunt who was killed in the Shoah. Please contact me.
