In Ciechanow poland lived a dayan rav Hanoch Perlmuter, is this his son?
There was a big Rabbinic family in Poland with the surname Perlmutter, I have a feeling that this Rav belongs to this family thus I have no backing for this.
See the following link on Yiddish World (in Yiddish) where I wrote about this dynasty:
http://www.yiddishworld.com/forum/index.php?f=31&t=5950&rb_v=viewtopic
Yd, You wrote in the above link that there is no connection between these 2 families.
R’ hanoch Perlmuters father was also named R’ nachman.
He had a son and grand son both dayanim in Ciechanow טשעכאנאוו.
His fathers name was Henoch, so it could very well be that his father was a Dayan in Poland
Farshlufen is probably right and the Rabbonisher Perlmutter family Rav Miller is referring to, are maybe -if anything- far related they are from the Ludzer Perlmutter’s and this one is perhaps from the Chechenover-Makover Perlmutter’s.
I am a great great grandson of rabbi Chanoch Perlemuter of Ciechanow. Someone pointed me to this site today. My records show that rabbi Chanoch Perlemuter was born in 1814. My research to date only shows three children, Froim, Abram, and Blima, Blima being my great grandmother. I am quite interested in locating descendants of rabbi Nachman Perlemuter.
According to some sources the Kobriner Rebbe http://kevarim.vohost.us/rebbe-baruch-yosef-sack/ was his son in law in his second marriage. The Kobriner Rebbe left a SIL in LA Rav Aharon Twersky who past away a few years ago and he has surviving family, maybe they will know more about this Reb Nachman Perlmutter
The Rebbe’s second wife was Ita Pearlmutter the daughter of Rav Nachman.
First, I don’t quite understand the last posting: “The Rebbe’s second wife was Ita Pearlmutter the daughter of Rav Nachman.”
I have confirmed that the rav Nachman (re the above stone) came from Ciechanow. My reference sources are the death certificate and Ellis Island ship records. The death record indicates that the wife at the time of death was Rebecca. It also indicates that the mother of Rav Nachman was Bluma Goldstein. The records that I have for rabbi Chanoch Perlemuter, dayan of Ciechanow indicates that wife of Chanoch was Ruchel (Nachmanowitz). The death record also indicates that the occupation of the deceased was a peddler.
Stan,
The comment of Baruch was in answer of BBZ’s point that Rebbe Baruch Yoseph Sack was the SIL of Rabbi Perlmutter.
I would like to know where all of you reside and your email address so we can pool our resources.
My great GF was Nachman Perlman known as “Harav” meaning “the Great Rabbi”. He lived to be well over 100, Nifter in 1966.
Our family yartzheit records indicate his father was Ephroim Tzvee Perlmuter. According to Cousin Stan Zeidenberg, Ephroim’s sister was Blima and brother Nachman. To distinguish we will call him “Nachman 1”. In other words, my Nachman was the nephew of Nachman 1.
Ephroim, Blima and Nachman 1’s father was Dayan meaning “the Judge” Hanich or Chanoch Perlmuter, according to our Family Yartzheit records handwritten by my grandmother, Esther Ruchel Perlman Gerber. In English it would be Herbert or Henry. My great uncle is named Henry Perlman.
Hanich’s father was Lieber according to our records.
Can anyone go back farther than Lieber! How far back can we trace our family!
I was named after Nachman 2’s son, Edward David Perlman who died at 42 in 1942 of leukemia. Does anyone know the significance of “Edward David” in the family?
I have a leukemia-related condition; leukocytosis.
Does anyone have any photos?

Edward,
Your GGF “Harav” Nachman Perlman lived in Chicgao as early as 1902 (I found him signed on a Rabbinc Verdict about a Kashruts dispute) when did he come to the US from Ciechanow ? where is he buried?
Dear YD Miller, the Kever is at the east side of the Waldheim cemetery in River Forest. To get there, take Harlem Avenue south, past Roosevelt Road; look for the cemetery entrance on the west side of the street; go in, turn left to the Zidichover marker section; and he is in that section about two rows in. You can see a picture of the Kever on my Flickr.com account, my sign-in name is “edw613”.
Hi Mr. Friedman,
I have visited your web-site, it is intriguing the work you do in memory of Jenny OBM, keep up the good work.
I see a picture there of your GGF Rabbi Nachmen Perlman he appears to be a great man and a distinguished Rabbi.
Since I dont live in the Chicago area I will probably not get to the Waldhiem Cemetery soon, and the Flickr account would require a password, how about you send the photo of the Kever o this sites Administrator so he can post it here.
