ר’ אשר זעליג פינקעל
נולד בשנת תרל”ד היה רב באדעסא עשרים שנה, ואחרי בואו לאמעריקא היה רב בפראווידענס, ראוד איילענד, ונסע לארץ ישראל והתעכב שם משך חמש שנים, אח”כ חזר לנוא יארק.
הוא היה אחד מחשובי הרבנים, גדול בתורה ונואם חשום ומצוין, בנו הוא הרב שמואל פינקעל רב באנסאניע, קאנעטיקוט.
נפטר בשב”ק כ”ז תשרי שנת תש”ב (נראה על המציבה שהיה כאן איז תיקון טעות כי כפי שמופיע בהפרדס אחר פטירתו נפטר במוצש”ק כ”ח תשרי ולכאורה היה כתוב כן על המציבה ותיקנוה) והוא בן ששים וחמש שנים בלבד.
ר’ בן בוזי, מה מקורך שנולד בתרל”ד, הרי אם הוא נולד תרל”ד ונפטר בתש”ב הי’ בן ס”ח, וראה נא על המצבה שהי’ בן ס”ה.

האם ידועים פרטיו על אחיו של הרב אשר זעליג. בפרט, ידוע לי כי אחדים מהם התגוררו במושבה חקלאית מוצ’ולקי שליד העיר רובנה בווהלין. האם מישהו יודע להרחיב על אודות אחיו, ובפרט אחיו אברהם פינקל?
Who says that he was the Chief Rabbi of Odessa?
He was one out of several rabbunim there.
I think the Chief Rabbi was Rav Halperin.
Orit, how do you know he had a brother named Avraham?
He is my Shvers Father. First of all, his name was not Asher Zelig it was Asher Tzvi. His second wife’s Yahrtzeit was this week. Her name was Esther Talansky and her first husband was a man named Berdichevsky. He was known as the Odessa Rav. He had children with both and so did she. My Shver was the only one from Reb Asher Tzvi and Esther. Two of the half siblings married each other and have children and grandchildren in Flatbush.
Disagreement whether the middle name was zvi or zelig . It’s possible both were used. My grandfather was Menachem Mendel. He used both names. Maybe Harav asher Finkel also used them interchangeably. Except for your sheer no one is really around anymore.
