    How was the Rebbe a descendant of the Baal-Shem-Tov (as stated on the Matzieve)?

    The Rabbi in YI of West-Heampstead is named Rabbbi Yehuda Kelemer, is he a dscendant of this Rabbi?

    Rabbi Yisroel Goodman (the kever is posted on the sight) was his FIL, his tombstone has some more information.

    I taught thad Reb Yehuda is a grandson of Reb Yossef, via a son Reb Berl.

    BTW I would like to know the lineage to the Baal Shem, besides from his FIL

    I once had a friend (who davens in his shule) asked him and he said that Rav Yosef was his father.
    As for the lineage, not sure, the Rav has yet to answer any of the emails I?ve sent him. I do know that he has a large congregation and its hard to pin him down.

    the lineage is on kevir of my greatgrandfather,, rabbi israel guttman, for whom i am named.

    Isreal-grandson,

    I wouldn’t think that someone would consider himself a descendant of the Baal-Shem bacause of his Father-in-law.

    It seems that there is a direct cennection from Rabbi Kelemer alone, do you know who his maternal grandfather was?

    My grandmother was a descendant of the Baal Shem Tov, her mother was Kelemer (or Chelmer or Khelmer) חלמר
    from Lubartov. Is there any connection?

    Could be from the family name Shapiro (Shapira) from Midzhibuz and later Solobkovci (Ukraine) or from the family name Chelmer (Khelmer?) from Lubartov?

    my father is rabbi yehuda kelemer of west hempstead..his fathr was a chazan berele kelemer..( u would think i would know this ..but i think yosek kelemer is my father grandfather)

    my mother was Udl Kelemer(Rosen) from Kupel.The family legend says she was a descendant of Baal-Shemtov. How could this relation be?

    Mark Gildin – My Rosen family is from Kupel also. I have heard the same legend. It would be of great interest if we could see a family tree of the Baal Shem Tov. Does this exist?
