Rav Sterman arrived in New York in 1903 and founded the Talmudic Instituted of Harlem. The Rav, a member of the Agudath HaRabonim was instrumental in elevating the standards of kashrus at the New York Butchers Association.

I believe I once came across his kever at Beth David in Elmont.
I am glad you were able to locate the Rav’s kever, after OZ he was the moreh dasrah at the Torath Emeth Synagogue in Boro Park.
My grandmother’s name was Eileen Sterman.I never knew her or knew of her until I was 13.Is there any connection?

I am a great granddaughter of Moses Kotlowitz from the Torath Emeth Synagogue in Boro Park. Is that Synagogue still around?
I am a great grandson of Rav Moshe Sterman. My mother tells me that he passed away in the Ohev Tzedek shul on Friday night. She was present at the levaya. He had been the Rov there for the 11 years before his petira. He did not serve as Rov in the Toras Emes synagogue. He lived in Manhattan. Two of his sons, Sol and Jack, did live in Boro Park and were active members of Toras Emes.
My grandmother told me a number of times that her father got Smicha at the age of 14. I remember seeing documents that indicated that he got the Smicha from the Cheishek Shlomo. Besides his gadlus in Torah, family members that knew him can’t find enough words to describe how beloved he was.

I am a granddaughter of Rabbi Moshe. My father was Max Sterman a brother of Sol, Joe, Jack Harry,Jenny, Irene and Gerty. I live in Israel.
