anoter source tells just the opposite, the original name was Lowenstein and he changed to Katzinelnbogen as is now evident from the cemetery records.
Did he remarry in the US with Pearl Schulan? here is a marriage entry for Ray Katzenelenbogen son of Hyman B. (Chaim Binyamin?) KP and Pearl Schulan.

P.S. The Date of Death quoted in Mount Zion Cemetery’s records is inaccurate. The correct date is February 7, ’03, as can be seen on the matzeiva.

Might Harav Avrohom Moshe Katzenellenbogen also have been known as Rabbi Louis Katzenellenbogen who was the Rov of the Bialystocker Shul of the lower east side and I know he lived before 1920.

Reb Chaim Binyumin Halevi Katzenelenbogen ztโl emigrated from Grudna, Lithuania to the United States. His son, the famous goan Reb Avraham Moshe Katzenelenbogen tzโl, the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Zion Yerushalayim, immigrated to Eretz Yisrael. Reb Avraham Moshe was the father of the 3 famous geonei yerushalayim: 1) Hagaon Reb Refuel ztโl 2) Hagaon Reb Yaakov Katzenelenbogen ztโl 3) Hagaon Hatzadik Reb Aharon Katzenelenbogen ztโl Rosh Yeshiva Tora Veyira & Founder of โNeturei Kartaโ in yerushalayim.
Rโ Chaim Binyumin Halevi Katzenelenbogen tzโl was niftar 111 years ago, on Shabbos kodesh yud shevat, tuf reish samach gimel โ 1903, at the age of 52. The levaya was the following day on Sunday, yud aleph shevat. Over many decades, his descendants invested much effort to locate the kever of this esteemed gaon and tzaddik.
This Thursday, yud alef kislev, was the first time since the petira of Rโ Chaim Binyumin Halevi Katzenelenbogen tzโl that a descendant was mispallel at his kever. The upcoming Yurtzeit will also be on a Shabbos Kodesh Bโshalach – Shire. In the event that we will not yet be zoche to Tchiyas haโmeisim Chโv, the talmidim of Tora vโyirah and the descendants of Rโ Chaim Binyumin that are presently in the USA will iyโh have the zchus to gather a minyan for the first time at the kever!
