Reb dovid bender was born in slonim in 1912.
His parents relocated to America in 1915.
My father lived in spring valley until his bar mitzvah,
He was the only jewish child who did not attend public school,
He had a private rebbe.
After his bar mitzvah , they moved to williamsburgh, where he joined the new mesivta torah Vodaas.
In 1933, he went to learn in the Mir in Europe where he stayed for 6 years without returning to America.
He married reb basia epstein in November 1938.
They both escaped from Europe on the last boat from Poland,
Sept 1, 1939.
First shteller was magid shiur in ner israel bais medrash Baltimore.
1941-RAM position in mesivta torah Vodaas.
1947-menahel of mechina program there.
Successfully stemmed the tide of boys leaving yeshiva after grade 8.
He passed away 24 cheshvan 5726.
