The first Mystery for me is the name of the town where his father was Rabbi (Zornisht in the Kiev, Ukraine region) I could not locate a town with a name close to this, any suggestions?
The only place I find his name is in a Sefer O’mer U’dvorim (NY 1923) without any comments, see:

Rabbi Miller, in your link it seems like he’s listed among Shochtim, and in any case it special points out to him the title Harav.

Rabbi Yaakov Eliyahu Rabinowitz, zt”l (1866-1943), served as the first Rav of B’nai Israel of Linden Heights, 4502 9th Avenue (Boro Park), Brooklyn, New York, organized October 5th, 1924. He served from 1924 through 1932, when he was succeeded by Rabbi Dr. Aaron Wertheim, zt”l (1899-1988), who served from 1932 until 1985, and as Rabbi Emeritus until his passing in 1988;. Rabbi Wertheim was also Rosh Yeshiva in Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanon and authored Halochos veHalichos beChasidus (which was also translated into English).
Rabbi Yaakov Eliyahu Rabinowitz, zt”l is buried in the B’nai Israel of Linden Heights chelka in the Old Montifiore Cemetery in St. Albans (Queens), NY. Most interestingly, the Shul had a fire on April 20, 1939 (2nd day Rosh Chodesh Iyar, 5699) when several sifrei Torah were burned. Apparently, a large funeral was held and the sifrei Torah remains were buried in the grave site right next to Rabbi Rabinowitz. A large horizontal tombstone was placed upon the sifrei Torah remains.
Rabinowitz was a pretty common families name in rabbinical circles.
Even though the similarity of the name Yaakov Eliyahu to Eliyahu Akiva, there doesn’t seem to be a family connection with the famous publisher of the Hapeles,
