He came to America and lived in Williamsburg and was the ruv in the Zjabne kloiz on 146 Division Ave.
was the brother of the famous writer and auther R’ Menashe Unger which wrote in The Tug and the auther of many books which are available on hebrewbooks.org
He was the son of the Zabne’r Rebbe which was very famous in Galicia, he came to the US to collect as many did in those days and he stayed here, he had the Bnei Yisroel Zabne Kloiz on 164 Ross St. Avenue and later on Division Avenue (where there is today Dyeresh) in Williamsburg.
(His brother was the famous auther and writer in Der Tug Menashe Ungar his books are available online at hebrewbooks.org)
He was also a BIL with the Bluzever Rebbe Z”L.

הצטיין בקולו האדיר שהרשים את שומעיו.
בשנת תרצ”ד נסע לארה”ב לזמן קצר ופתאום שחל”ח
ביום כ”ט חשון ומנו”כ בבית דוד עלמאנט. זצ”ל.

My Hebrew is a little shaky, can someone please translated the bottom half of the tombstone for me (after the part with the Ropshitzer Rav).

The two lines are poetic verses from the Talmud pointing out how the angels in heaven (who were asking him to be up there) overcame the prayers of mankind, and his followers were left behind in sorrow.
The last line points out the date and year of his passing.

During the 1960s-1970s, Rav Elisha Kohn ztl was the Rov at the Zabne kloiz on Division Ave. Who preceded him as Rov in the kloiz if Rav Ungar was niftar in 1936?
