Bio Information: 
Rav Sokol, a rabbinical ordination student of Rav Chaim Soloveitchik of Brisk headed a Yeshiva in Los Angeles proper to moving to New York where he led a large congregation in Brooklyn., Avroham Moshe (Adam) Sokol of Kew Gardens Hills, a noted Asken and philanthropist, is among his descendants.

    Any biographical info on your GG-Father? his father lived in Biala-Podolsk coming from Brisk

    My step father Nachman Sokol was the son of Rabbi Yaakov Menachem Sokol listed here. I was told that Rabbi Sokol received his smicha or rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Velvel Soleveitchik who was related to Rabbi Chaim, though he did indeed study at the famous Brisker Yeshiva.

    Reb Velevel Soloveitchik is probably the famous Brisker Rav son and successor of Reb Chaim.

    my brother thinks Rabbi Yaakov Menachem Sokol did indeed get smicha from Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, yet my father mentioned Rabbi Velvel a lot, never Rabbi Chaim, so maybe Rabbi Yaakov Menachem Sokol studied with Rabbi Velvel or knew him on a first name basis

    There is a lot of info about R’ Sokol in Sefer Hazichronos (pages 211-234) ,a book of memoirs written by his friend and mechutan I H Frank
