Every time I pass the Shul in the lower east side I am asking the same question, is this still active?
It sounds tough that it is indeed in use ain some fashion.

Can anyone clarify what the third line on the marker means?

Which Shul is this reffering to, and it appears that they left blank the anmount of years he served as rav.

I found that the Clinton St. Shul Congregation Chasam Sopher, was formed by the merger of two Polish societies named for their hometowns of Czesto- chowa and Unterstanestier, and that is the Shul mentioned on the stone.
